Enterprise Baptist Church partnered with Defend the Orphans at Walk This Way

We want to give a special thank you to Enterprise Baptist Church for their participation in Walk This Way. Because of you and your dedication to helping orphans, $1,000 more dollars were collected for the Foster Children Fund. Thank you for being an example to our community of showing the love of Christ to those less fortunate than you. We hope you will come back next year to the walk. Defend the Orphans ministry would like to challenge at least 10 more churches to do what Enterprise did for the walk next year.

May is National Foster Care Awareness month

May is a special month as we focus on Foster care. Please view http://www.fostercareprayervigil.org/. We will focus on prayer for foster care the week of May 17th. Also this month Coaling Baptist Church will initiate Project 24. For more information stay tuned. This will be a project to help provide needs for the foster children in the Alabama Baptist Childrens Homes, Big Oak Ranch and other foster care ranches that are starting up in this area. All churches can participate in Project 24 in your own church.
Contact Lauree at 205-792-3515 for more information and see blogspot as more information is available. This is a very simple way to follow God's command in Deut. 24 to provide for the orphan. You won't want to miss out! More info soon!!!!!

Foster children Walk Event was a tremendous success

Praise the Lord! I can't express how grateful I am for the support and participation in the Walk this Way event for foster children. We had the most gorgeous weather and the most wonderful people to come out and walk for the benefit of Tuscaloosa Co. foster children. You are Wonderful Coaling!!!! And Tuscaloosa! Thank you for showing that you truly do care and you have proven your faith by your works! The proceeds from the Walk and bake sale are now over $6250! More money is still pouring in! The foster children in this area will be greatly blessed by this fund. Thank you to all you helped to plan and set up for the event. Many worked behind the scenes but not un-noticed by the Lord! A special thanks to Enterprise Baptist church who brought over a dozen people to walk and over $800 in donations. You are an example for the churches in the area who we hope to get involved next year. I will be putting together a slide show of pics taken that day by our photographer, Brandon Katz, along with some audio taken by Christy Pepper from Moody radio the day of the walk and will post them soon. For now I want to thank you all again and a special thanks to Artur Davis, Gerald Allen, and Coaling's Mayor Charlie Foster for their attendance and remarks. Thanks to WVUA also for the news coverage. Thank you to Bro. Todd Burkhalter, pastor of Coaling Baptist church, for your dedication prayer and whole hearted support. May is National Foster Care Month and we will be working on another way to raise awareness and funds for this special month. Stay tuned. I have added some pics of the walk for you to enjoy. I pray God was Glorified and many orphans will be blessed. Ps.27:10 says, Even if my father and mother abandon me, the Lord will hold me close!

Walk This Way Event Sat March 21st

“Walk This Way” will be held March 21st at the Coaling Town Park from 9am to 12pm. We named it this to remind us to walk in the ways of the Lord by being obedient to His call to learn to do good, love justice, defend the orphans and widows and help the needy as described in Is 1:17. This is an event that will raise awareness of the need for foster care and adoptive families in Tuscaloosa County. Participants will solicit pledges/donations to walk laps around the walking track at the park. Our goal is 300 for 300- to walk a total of 300 laps for the approximately 300 children in Alabama awaiting adoption. There is a small entry fee of $20 for adults and $15 for children, with discounts for multiple family members, for which you will receive a “Walk This Way” T shirt and a “Defend the Orphans” promotional bracelet. Of course anyone can come and walk and just bring in their donations/pledge money without paying the entry fee if they do not want a T shirt and bracelet. There is also a bake sale being held under the park pavilion. All the proceeds go to help meet needs of the Tuscaloosa County children in foster care. We will have an official dedication ceremony at 10:00am at the park pavilion. We will have informational booths on site from DHR and Alabama Mentors to give information to interested parties about foster care and adoption. The event will be held rain or shine. In the event of rain we will move to the gym at Coaling Baptist Church. We have pledge cards and sign up sheets ready. You can go ahead and order your T Shirts and bracelets early. If you need any of the forms, want to place an order, want to be a sponsor, give a donation or have questions please call Lauree at 205-792-3515. If for whatever reason someone cannot make it to the walk they can still give donations to that fund as it will be on going. I want to challenge each of you to take a stand for the orphan by taking a walk for foster kids March 21st. Challenge your Sunday school classes, youth groups, women’s ministries and children’s ministries to either come and walk or sponsor walkers.
